Zenyatta Big Winner; Raven's Pass Upsets Curlin
Stardom Bound and Midshipman Win Juvenile Divisions at Breeders' Cup

Zenyatta, the giant 17-hand filly, remained unbeaten at nine for nine by streaking to the $2 Million Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic wire with astounding ease. The 25th edition of the Breeders' Cup World Championships were held October 24 and 25 at Santa Anita Park, Arcadia, California.
Rushing from her customary last place spot to handily overtake her competitors in time of 1:46.85 and win the Ladies Classic October 24, Zenyatta lived up to her pre-race favorite status. Her win, coupled with Curlin's upset loss to Raven's Pass in the boys' Classic, also gave the mammoth four-year-old filly a worthy case for Horse of the Year votes.
Two juveniles, the gray filly Stardom Bound and male Midshipman, gave strong performances in their separate Juvenile divisions in front of a crowd that topped 85,000 in the 14-race, two-day championships run for the first time on a synthetic surface.
Ramon Dominguez, who handled Cocoa Beach to a second place finish in the Ladies Classic, said, "Zenyatta's a special filly." The three-year-old Music Note went third in the contest.
