Lava Man, Rags to Riches, and Hard Spun fill out the top five money leaders as of July. Asmussen, Curlin's trainer, and Pletcher, who trains Rags, are top ten leaders.
All three stars of this year's Triple Crown races, Street Sense, Curlin, and Rags to Riches, are in the top five as 2007 money winners. The trio was connected at the hip through the triple crown races. Street Sense handled the Kentucky Derby, besting Hard Spun and Curlin. Steve Asmussen's charge rebounded to nip Street Sense in the Preakness Stakes, then the filly, Todd Pletcher's Rags to Riches, nosed Curlin in the Belmont Stakes.
